Hey, Baby!

If you are a Yarn Shoppe regular, you will recognize Plymouth Dreambaby DK.  We've stocked it for years, and it's our go-to yarn for soft, next-to-skin projects for baby.  It's a blend of acrylic microfiber and nylon, which means it is machine washable, and it knits at 5.5 stitches per inch.  We currently have it in several brights, as well as the traditional pastel baby colors shown above.  I have knit a new sample out of our old stand-by, the "Helena" sweater from the Summer, 2008 issue of "Knitty."

This little charmer is knit in one piece from the neck down with raglan shoulder shaping and a simple lace pattern below the bodice.  There is no ribbing or buttonholes; the front ties closed and the lower edges of the sleeves and skirt are finished with a picot edging and hem, which looks allot harder than it is!   This little sweetie was fun to knit and the pattern was clearly written with no errors---if you are looking for an heirloom project that will be the hit of the next baby shower you go to, I recommend the "Helena" sweater.
Please remember that we are open seven days a week, and we are here to help you with projects made from materials purchased at The Yarn Shoppe.
